Turkish exporters announced an increase in the supply of blankets to Europe

Turkey increased its supply of blankets to Europe by a quarter from January to October 2022, president of the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Association Ahmet Öksüz told Yeni Safak.

“Exports to EU countries increased by 24 percent. Half of our blanket exports go to the EU. Between January and October we exported the most blankets to Germany (exports increased by 39%) and to the Netherlands (37%),” said Oxuz.

According to observations over the past five months, a significant increase of exports to Greece and Poland is observed only in October, said the entrepreneur. He added that in the period from January to October the export of ordinary blankets increased by 12% up to $53 million and quilted blankets increased by 22% up to $119 million.

Refiq Ceylan, owner of a textile factory in Bursa, said, according to the newspaper, that the current crisis, like COVID-19, is an opportunity for the Turkish economy to increase exports to European countries.

He said that from a logistical point of view Turkey is in an advantageous position. The businessman said that blankets are mainly exported to Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Sweden.
